Perfect

This tent is more than adequate for a family of two adults, and a child. Very well made, compact, lightweight. Built to last. Thoughtful features. The other reviewer is being too critical about features that might be his/her own preferences. This tent is built to be a hardy real world tough camping sort of tent. Of course it would work just fine for a casual suburban camping weekend as well.

This tent does nothing exceptionally well...

For some this could be a three, or even four star tent. But, I could not get enthused about this tent. There are just too many "misses" for me. Hooray for aluminum poles, except the strange angled tent clips which attach to the poles are overly-difficult to detach from the poles. And three cheers for the slightly rectangular floor plan, as opposed to perfectly square. The problems become apparent upon actual use. It's apparent that too many aspects of the design weren't given enough thought. Let's start with the plastic connector where the fly and poles secure. It is a rigid, single piece of plastic. One cannot alter the relative orientation of the pole hole and the female fly connector. Unfortunately, this rigid piece angles the female connectors for the fly straps too far upward, instead of inline with the strap, so the strap keeps coming unlocked after one cinches it down. A slight wind pressing on the door of the fly was enough to cause the fly to loosen. Sometimes, the strap would even loosen immediatley after cinching down. Unacceptable. Also, the fly straps are too short. In order to loosen the strap clips enough to get them in the connectors, there is barely enough strap left to grab with one's finger tips.The next frustrating item is the fly zipper. The D-shaped door of the tent is not large, but sufficiently big enough without the fly in place. But put the fly on before you load your tent with gear, and you'll be hunching down, squeezing through a very tiny, labyrinth opening. The fly zipper only goes as high as the bottom of the blue decorative fabric you see in the photo, so the top 25% of the already marginally large enough tent door is useless. Why Kelty did not extend the fly zipper up to the height of the tent door zipper is called simply poor design.Waterproof? That depends on what you call waterproof. If this means a slight spritz sometime overnight, then perhaps this tent will keep you dry enough. But in a decent rain all night, I had water coming in through the wall-to-floor seam on all three sides not covered by the fly door. They claim it is a "three season" tent, the fly seams are taped, the floor seam inside the tent is even taped (???) but the wall-to-floor seam, which is totally unprotected by the fly, is not taped! Unbelievable.Lastly, I've used this tent from 35 degrees F on up to 85+ degrees F, and the ventilation leaves a lot to be desired. Condensation wasn't a problem, as one other surmised. As long as you take the effort to guy all four sides of the fly away from the roof, condensation was never a problem for me in the cold. Keep in mind, however, I was only one person. Add two or three others, and it might be. The real problem, as I experienced it, is the tent is too damn lacking in ventilation in the heat, and too damn lacking in the ability to close off drafts when it's cold. It may sound contradictory, but the draft that can chill to the bone at night, isn't nearly enough to keep the insides of a hot tent comfortable. There is not a single window which can be opened or closed, so you are pretty much stuck hoping you don't have a breeeze on a cold night, or won't be camping on a hot, muggy evening where the threat of a shower forces you to keep the fly on. Kelty could have provided an option or two more for ventilation management. As it is, you are stuck with zero-adjustability in this department.

good tent but small

This tent is nice and easy to put up. Sturdy poles and good material. My only real complaint is that as a 6'4" 225lb guy there's no way I would call it a 4 person. It is about the size of a queen bed inside. It'll fit Me and my wife and two little kids but when they get a bit bigger we'll need something bigger.
